The Pontiac Firebird was introduced in 1967. The Trans-Am was first offered on the 1969 model and continued until Pontiac dropped the Firebird at the same time as Chevy did away with the Camaro in 2002. The Camaro was brought back in 2009, but Pontiac went under before a new Firebird could be produced. Many characters in That 70's Show have owned one, including Casey Kelso, Buddy Morgan, and Hyde's temporary wife Samantha Hyde.
The Trans-Am Series is an automobile racing series which was created in 1966 by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) President John Bishop. Originally known as the Trans-American Sedan Championship it has evolved over time from its original format as a manufacturers championship for modified racing sedans to its current form as a drivers championship open to GT style cars.
